Will a chiropractic adjustment hurt me?
A Chiropractic adjustment involves a precise thrust of force into a joint that is not functioning properly Most patients experience an immediate sense of relief after an adjustment however, if your joint is tender due to injury you may experience mild discomfort.

Why do I have to continue treatment after the pain is gone?
Although you may feel relief even after the very first treatment it is necessary to return for successive treatments. Several treatment sessions are needed to totally correct a dysfunctional joint. If you do not have successive treatments your condition will return and your joint may be permanently damaged if it didn't heal properly.

Where can I get information on schooling to be a chiropractor? How long do I have to go to school before I can practice?
Including prerequisites the path to a Doctorate of Chiropractic can take a 5 to 7 years full-time effort. There are postgraduate specialty classes (which can add another two years schooling) and National Board Exams to get through too. Trust me, it's worth the wait. I couldn't imagine a more rewarding job.

About 6 weeks ago I was in a minor car accident. I was rear-ended but the impact of the care was very slight. At the time I didn't feel any pain. Ever since I have been experiencing severe dizzy spells. Can a chiropractor help me?
People often dismiss neck pains and dizzy spells as psychosomatic or inconsequential for a long time before they will try treatment. In the case of sudden trauma, even low impact trauma, the neck is very vulnerable. A chiropractor might be the answer you are looking for. Chiropractors routinely deal with this kind of trauma and can produce amazing results through spinal adjustments and myofascial therapy.

I have heard that once you start going to a chiropractor you have to keep going indefinitely. Is this true?
No, let me explain where this reputation comes from. Chiropractic care for just about any minor trauma will last for about four weeks. Many patients choose to continue the care because the adjustments make them feel so much better. Also people come to chiropractors for treatment of things like neck pains, headaches and lower back pain. Most people who suffer from these conditions experience recidivism of the problem and turn to chiropractors because they can provide the most effective, safest, and least expensive care.
